Can I remove my piercing studs for a medical procedure?Updated a month ago

It's important not to remove your new earrings during the initial healing period — 3 weeks for lobes and 8 weeks for cartilage. If you remove your earrings during this time, you risk the piercing closing, which may require a repiercing.

We recommend keeping earrings in 24/7 for the first year to ensure proper healing and avoid complications. Please note that if your piercings close up, we will unfortunately not be able to offer a complimentary re-pierce. If possible, you will want to schedule your medical procedure at least 30 days post-piercing. We want to make sure you keep your piercings safe and healthy!

If your medical team permits, we recommend trying Rowan Sports Studs! These hypoallergenic silicone studs with soft backs contain no metal and are designed to be worn during many medical procedures without disrupting the healing process.

If you can't wear these studs, we suggest keeping your piercing studs in for as long as possible before your procedure and having them ready to be reinserted right after. Applying a small amount of Neosporin to the earring post can help guide them in more gently when you put them back in.
